I completely agree with all of these points - if you are not thriving where you can be yourself, you should move on to where you can... I have found more professional success in a role where I can be open, direct, collaborative, and innovative.... and in moment where I learn the audience and cater to what speaks to them. The days of the "Yes Man" are over and those with new ideas will thrive.... just have a plan for the ideas, know the risks, how to address them, and how to foster change in a positive way by engaging those who are impacted.... Also, plan to be trumped by an even better idea, but rather than see that as a negative, find a way to engage and collaborate with the one with the idea in process....

Robin is a walking smile. She's a good feeling. Each time I slide one of her books, brand new or dog-eared and butter-stained, from my bedroom bookshelf, (I love to chow on popcorn while devouring a Robin Roffer gem) I feel a twinge of excitement. Even the books I've read (more than once) call to me -- every one is so jam-packed with good stuff, a second and third read is a must! The world would be a boring place without Robin.

I know what you mean. The recession has challenged us all. But, now it's a fact of life. Smiling and being around positive people is a great cure! Thanks for your suggestions.

Great blog entry and true for the weariness of our country, friends and sometimes self! We need to remember how fortunate we are to have the power to change something or a condition for ourselves or someone else. The energy or happiness of doing something good for someone else can be uplifting! I like your 3 questions and the answers can be very empowering!

Very thoughtful post. I sometimes think that I am on a planet called ' light years away'. So many people have been sucked into a recession blues downward spiral which for some is becoming a way of life.
For me I read, listen to music, exercise, do things with my family, and try to spend more time with positive outgoing people.
And I try to smile more!

I'd have to vote for Danielle Radcliffe. He was quickly thrust into the media spotlight, handled it beautifully, and is going on to explore his talents on Broadway. Wonderful.

And, Robin, thank you for participating in Michael Port's "Think Big" call today. Your work is inspiring!

Brittany Spears!!! To have gone through what's she's gone through in her twenties of all decades (which lets all face it, is right behind the toughest of all decades - your teens) during the height of her career to have a monumental break down in the WORLDS public eye... & to come back from that with 2 kids... is nothing short of the definition of Resilience.
